Let Bahamas Ocean Safaris be the first to welcome you to Spanish Wells, Eleuthera, Bahamas and introduce itself. James Dunnam, owner and Safari guide, was born in and spent his entire life in Spanish Wells, The Bahamas. He is a Licensed Captain with 30 years experience in Lobster diving and 20 years in deep sea fishing. His life experiences, knowledge of the sea, and unique perspectives are now applied to help others have the vacation of a lifetime.
Your Safari could be on a remote and deserted beach where you become your own Robinson Crusoe, combing the beach for shells and treasure, or exploring, or simply seeking peace and solitude. Your Safari Guide can stay within reach or, if you choose, ask him to drop you off and pick you up later, whatever you like!
Or it could be exploration, crossing through the treacherous waters of The Devil’s Backbone. You’ll land ashore on a deserted white-sand beach and cross through the dunes to find Preacher’s Cave, home place to our ancestors who lived in a natural cave for years after a disastrous shipwreck in 1648.
There are few people on earth who have spent as much time on–and under–the seas seeking lobster and fish than Safari Guide James Dunnam. One area of worldwide renown is the Dutch Bar, just 5 miles off the coast of Spanish Wells, where the ocean floor descends from approximately 200 feet over a cliff that drops thousands of feet deep. Tuna, Wahoo, Sail Fish, Marlin, and Mahi Mahi, just to mention a few, compete with sharks and barracuda for food. It is nature at it’s rawest and pristine, where man seeks to harvest the sea’s bounty in competition with its natural residents.
